Engine Maintenance
This course teaches the principles of gas & diesel engine cooling, lubrication, ignition, and fuel systems. The purpose is to help you prevent problems from occurring and provide you with the basic skills needed to diagnose problems should they occur. Covered also are inboard, outboard, and outdrive propulsion systems including transmission and propeller selection. Various steering systems, instrumentation, and control systems are also explained and the course concludes with a section on "Emergency Repairs at Sea". This is a 10 week course.
